Counseling

Cornell offers a variety of counseling, prevention, and wellness programs and services for students. These include:
  • Empathy, Assistance, and Referral Service - 255-EARS, 255-3277, provides peer counseling.
  • Gannett's Counseling and Psychological Services - 255-5208, 255-5155, Gannett Health Center, provides professional individual and group counseling.
  • Cornell United Religious Work - 255-4214, 118 Anabel Taylor Hall, offers help from religious staff and denominational advisors.
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual Resource Center - 255-3869, coordinates the efforts of the entire Cornell University community to ensure the inclusion of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, and to eliminate heterosexism and gender identity oppression.
  • HAVEN - haven@cornell.edu 210 WSH, sponsors LGBTQ-oriented student social/support/discussion groups.
  • International Students and Scholars (ISSO) - assists international students and foreign academic staff and their families by advising them concerning federal immigration, tax and labor regulations, and by providing counseling on personal, academic and cultural matters.
  • Al-Anon, Alateen - 255-4782, 274-6288, schedules support group for friends, relatives, or family members whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking.
  • Alcoholics Anonymous - 255-2782, 273-1541, schedules meetings for those in recovery, 12-step groups meet in the Ithaca community
  • Blue Light Safety Services - 255-7373, Cornell Police Student Auxiliary members will escort you to and from campus buildings and vicinity during academic year.
  • Campus Life - 255-5511, 2336 S. Balch Hall, residence units live-in professionals and paraprofessionals provide crisis intervention and creative problem-solving through counseling, information, and referrals.
  • Contraception, Gynecology, and Sexuality Services - Gannett: Cornell University Health Services, 255-3978, offers confidential counseling and medical services for contraception, emergency contraception, gynecological problems, pap smears, yearly exams, sexually transmissible disease.
  • Fraternity and Sorority Affairs - 255-2310, 5th floor of Willard Straight Hall, greeks@cornell.edu, provides administrative support, advisement, and various training workshops for undergraduates and alumni.
  • Gannett: Cornell University Health Services - 255-5155, offers 24- hour access for assistance with nonemergency, but urgent medical and psychological health problems.
  • HIV/AIDS Testing and Counseling - 255-3978, Gannett: Cornell University Health Services.
  • Nutrition Resources - groups and information for healthy eating.
  • Office of Minority Educational Affairs Committee on Special Educational Projects (COSEP) - 255-3841, 100 Barnes Hall, provides information, advocacy, short-term counseling, and referral services for minority students.
  • Smoking Cessation - can help you quit
  • Victim Advocacy Program - 255-1212,118 Stimson Hall, victimadvocate@cornell.edu assists Cornell community members who have been a victim of a crime or traumatic incident.

  • The Office of Workforce Diversity, Equity and Life Quality - The Office of Workforce Diversity, Equity and Life Quality was established in January 2000 to provide leadership to the Cornell community in the areas of equal opportunity, affirmative action, diversity, and the 'balance'' between work and personal life. The office serves as a liaison to local community organizations that address the employment interests of individuals from traditionally underrepresented groups.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - 255-1531, 409 College Ave., provides short-term professional counseling and referral for faculty and staff members.
  • Human Resources - helps with questions about retirement, benefits, and quality of life issues.
